If you enjoy reading magazines but hate the cost of purchasing them, remember the PLS website now has a link to free magazines called Zinio. There are about 100 magazines available for you to choose from. These can be downloaded onto your computer or any device that has wifi or Internet capabilities. These copies are then yours, they do not have to be "returned". Start shopping and then start reading.

Mark your calendars to come in the week of June 10-15 to sign up for the summer reading program.  We will have a kickoff at the Lakeside Park again this year on Monday, June 10.  Watch for more details of the event as we get closer.
Make sure you come in and put your choice for a name for our summer reading mascot in.  All names have to be entered by the end of May. The person who names the mascot owl will be receiving a prize.
BIG LIBRARY READ IS HERE!
Through Overdrive, Pioneerland Library System is participating in reading the book "Four Corners of the Sky" by Michael Malone.  This book is displayed on PLS's Overdrive page and is available for unlimited check out until June 1st.  You will have the normal checkout period to read the book before it is automatically returned.  There will be an unlimited number of copies available so everyone can participate in the BIG LIBRARY READ!  Go to the Pioneerland webpage and grab your copy today!  Become part of the BIG LIBRARY READ of EBOOKS!

SENIOR LINKAGE LINE

The Senior Linkage Line helps connecte people to services in the community and provides the assistance to help a person get the information and personalized help that is needed to make good decisions.  This includes providing face to face help in the home and community.  The Senior Linkage Line has expertise in the areas of:

**  Medicare
**  Prescription drug expense assistance for Minnesotans of all ages
**  Health Insurance counseling
**  Forms assistance including help applying for Medical Assistance and Medicare options
**  Long Term Care Insurance, including long term care partnership
**  Long Term Care planning options
**  Caregiver planning and support

The Senior Linkage Line has trained specialists and volunteers available in your area to help answer questions and simplify your life.  The outreach specialist in your area is at the Ortonville Public Library.  A trained specialist or volunteer is available the first Friday of each month from 1pm to 2pm in Ortonville.  You can also contact the Senior Linkage Line at 1-800-333-2433 if you need to schedule help with a specialist or volunteer at a different time and/or location. 

The Senior Linkage Line is a service of the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Minnesota River Area Agency on Aging, Inc.
 
 


 
 
MEMORIAL DAY SERVICES, MONDAY, MAY 27

ORTONVILLE:  9am at the Ortonville School Gymnasium


MILBANK: 9am at St. Lawrence Cemetery; the parish will celebrate mass at 5pm at the cemetery


*Milbank City Cemetery 10am (in case of inclement weather the services will be at the Milbank High School Armory


REVILLO: 9am at the Revillo Cemetery (in case of rain at the Revillo Community Center)


STRANDBURG/LABOLT:  9:30am at the LaBolt Cemetery

10:30 service at the Tabor Lutheran Church in Strandburg


CLINTON:  9:45 at the Clinton School; the cemetery service will be at the Clinton Cemetery and a community potluck will follow at the Clinton Memorial Building; all are welcome, please bring a dish to pass and your own table service


BEARSLEY:  10am at City Park

BIG STONE:  10am at St. Charels Cemetery with ceremonies to follow at Greenwood Cemetery and the Big Stone Veteran's Memorial Park on east Highway 12

BELLINGHAM:  10:30am at the Bellingham Legion Clubroom with fellowship and coffee from 9:30 - 10:30


GRACEVILLE:  10:30 Memorial Day Parade, following the parade at the Graceville Cemetery; following the program there will be a potluck dinner at the Graceville Community Building

MARIETTA:  10:30am at St. John's Lutheran Church

EIDSKOG LUTHERAN CHURCH:  Service will be at the cemetery at 11am with Dan Meyer as the speaker.  A potluck will follow after the service and everyone is welcome.
