ORTONVILLE LIBRARY NEWS

UPDATE:  09/01/10  The winning trip has been chosen.  Listen to KDIO on Tuesday, Sept. 7 @ 8:30 to find out where the trip will be to!

We took a full bus to Walnut Grove last Tuesday to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum and Dugout.  What a beautiful day to go.  We all learned things and had an enjoyable time.  We even did trivia of the Little House on the Prairie on the way down there.  Of course, the books are available at the library for you to read or reread.
I asked the question to those who were on the bus as to what they would like us to do next.  I received many responses and have checked into some of them.  What I need now is for you to “vote” on which one of these I should pursue.   Your choices are:
1)      Oktoberfest in New Ulm  (Oct 2 or 9)   2)  Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead (Pangea, Cultivate our Cultures on November 13)   3) Oliver H. Kelley Farm in Elk River (Sept or Oct on a Sat)    4) Gibbs Museum of Pioneer and Dakotah Life in St. Paul (October 31 or December 4 or 5 or  5) Itasca State Park: 2 hour boat tour to the Mississippi River Headwaters and naturalist narrated history tour. (Sept on a Sat)
Please let us know by September 1st which you would prefer to go on.

UPDATE:  09/01/10  The winning trip has been chosen.  Listen to KDIO on Tuesday, Sept. 7 @ 8:30 to find out where the trip will be to!

The Ortonville Public Library is open Monday – Thursday 12 – 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 10 – 3 p.m.
The bus trip we will be taking will be announced at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 7th on KDIO’s talk show.  The following week, I will have an article on the trip and all the details in my column.  So listen to the radio and then watch the newspaper.  This is going to be a great time!
Remember to stop in and check out our “garden” of magazine and newspaper subscriptions that are ripe and need to be harvested.  We are harvesting our vegetables to help keep the magazines and newspapers in the library.  Please consider harvesting a vegetable for us.
