  Triple C's




This is our church news, club news and a calendar of events, otherwise known as Triple C announcements.  Triple C is a free service of KDIO to promote special events in the area.  You can submit information to us by checking our contact information on this site.  Please allow a week or two to publicize your event; no phone calls please.


Prairie Five Community Action Council, through “CARE”, Caregivers And Resource Education program are sponsoring a Caregivers Discussion Group.  The meetings are held the second Monday of each month, at 2pm.  The location is at Fairway View  Senior Community in Ortonville. The address is 215 Lundell Ave., near the Golf  Course.  
Anyone who is caring for a family member or friend who is over 60, and is interested in meeting others who are experiencing the joys and challenges of  caregiving are invited. So come and enjoy some coffee, conversation, and perhaps pick up some coping skills.  As a caregiver: “You alone can do it – but you don’t have to do it alone”, so; Believe in yourself.  Protect your health.  Reach out for help.  For further information, please call Prairie Five Outreach Specialist, Jeanne Krueger, at (320) 325-5227.

TOPS Club will meet Thursdays at 1:00pm at the Ortonville Public Library. 
Weigh-In will be from 1:00-1:30, and meeting will take place from 1:30 to 2pm.

BINGO AT THE MOOSE:  Bingo will be now held on Thursday nights starting May 6th at 7:00 pm and there still will be a $1000.00 coverall jackpot!    The Moose Lodge is a non profit organization and proceeds are donated to the local communities.


VINTAGE STITCHERS:  a new group at the Ortonville Community Center will be meeting the first Thursday of each month starting on Thursday, Feb. 4 at 10am.  If you enjoy knitting or crocheting, join in!  The goal of the group is to make items for charity and the first project will be "chemo caps" for those receiving chemotherapy at the Ortonville Hospital and "lapghans" to be given to those using hospice services.  If you would like to stay for dinner at the Community Center following the group, you are welcome to do so.  Contact Paula at 839-3555 to reserve your spot!


The Grant County Public Library will host a giant used book sale from August 9th through September 4th.  The sale will be held in the Library’s Community Room and patrons are invited to browse at their leisure.  This year the library has a great selection of fiction and large print hardcover books, paperbacks, non-fiction, magazine bundles, children’s books and a huge assortment of VHS tapes with plastic cases.
Weeks 3 and 4: (Aug 24-Sept. 4) – BARGAIN Bag Sale!  $2.00 per bag
Items are in good to excellent condition.  Many recent fiction titles and popular authors will be available for purchase, as some are duplicates to our collection.  It will no doubt be a long, chilly winter ahead – stop in at the library today and stock up on some reading material to keep you entertained during those months!  The library is located at 207 E Park Ave, Milbank.  Hours are Mon-Thurs  10 am – 8 pm, Fri. 10 am – 5 pm,  Sat. 10 am – 2 pm.  Please phone 432-6543 or visit our website at www.grantcountylibrary.com for further information.

ROOT BEER FLOATS:  The Oldies but Goodies team of the Big Stone County Cancer Support Group will be serving root beer floats Friday, Sept. 3 from 11am to 5pm at Hartmans Super Valu in Ortonville for a donation of $1.50.  Luminaries will also be sold for $5.00 each.  All proceeds go to the Big Stone County Cancer Support Group Walk of Hope which will take place on Saturday, Sept. 18 from 1-10pm in Ortonville.

WEST CENTRAL WORDALONE MINISTRIES will meet on Saturday, September 11, after the Labor Day weekend, at St. John's in rural Starbuck. A delegate from the Ohio "Constituting Convention" of the newly formed "North American Lutheran Church" (NALC)
will share highlights of this historic event. Come for coffee 9:30, program at 10:00.

WISCONSIN STYLE FISH BOIL DINNER:  Sunday, Sept. 12 from 11am to 1pm at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank.  Free will offering sponsored by the Orphan Grain Train; supplemental funds by Thriven Chapter #30581

SALAD LUNCHEON:  St. Charles Church Hall in Big Stone City will have their annual salad luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 15 from 11am to 1pm.  Cost is $5; don't miss the scarecrows!

"Ernie Couch and Revival" will be in concert Thursday, September 16 at 7:00pm at Valley
Baptist Church, Milbank, SD, followed by a time of refreshments. Public is invited, free-will

Community Bible Study is open for enrollment for fall classes held on Monday nights during the school year. Classes will start on Sept. 20th. We encourage you to enroll with CBS for this in-depth study of Revelations by Sept. 6, 2010.  CBS is an international Bible study and is open to every one of all  denominations. We offer core groups for men, women, and teenagers and this year we will be offering a couples group as well. Community Bilble Study class will begin September 20th at 7:00 p.m. at the American Lutheran Church In Milbank.  This years study will be an in-depth study of the book of Revelations.  CBS is open to all denominations and is open to everyone that is interested in studying God's word.  This year we are offering core groups for men, women, couples and teenagers. ZION LUTHERAN FALL FESTIVAL:  Sunday, Sept. 26 at the American Legion Hall in Browns Valley.  Serving 11am to 1pm.  The menu is roast pork loin, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, corn, salad, pickles, homemade rolls and variety of desserts along with a beverage.  Adults, $7.50; Children 6-10, $4.00; children under five eat free!  Take outs available.  Call 320-695-2361
